A fabulous evening of dinner, dancing and silent auction
On September 17, 2011 over 200 people attended the 1st Annual CSF Dinner Dance For a Cure which raised over $26,000. The evening started off with a cocktail hour and raffle, followed by dinner, dancing and a silent auction. Those attending included CSF Executive Director, Dorothy Poppe, Scientific Education & Advisory Board (SEA Board) Chairman Dr. Edward C. Benzel and member Frank Loth along, with speakers from the CSF physician lecture series - Dr. Mark Luciano and Dr. Violette Recinos.
CSF was happy to present awards to Dr. Benzel, Twinsburg Mayor Katherine Procop, Roger Greene & Karyn Kreps-Frisina, from the Hilton Garden Inn, in appreciation of their dedicated support over the years.
A huge thank you to the CSF Dinner Dance for a Cure Sponsors:
Gold Sponsor – Keybank
Silver Sponsors – Porter Wright Law Firm and Wall Street Recycling
Friend Sponsors – Dr. & Mrs. Ed Benzel, Equity Engineering, Midlik & Friends, Giammaria & Friends, Poznik Family Friends, Class of 2012, Senior Moms & Twinsburg Friends of CSF
The evening was filled with both laughter and tears. We danced the night away to the popular Cleveland band CHANCE while raising money for much needed programs and future research. Calvin Poznik's gave a very moving testimonial about living with Chiari, syringomyelia, intracranial hypertension and scoliosis.
We are so grateful to the many volunteers who helped make this evening so special, along with all the companies and people who contributed through journal ads, silent auction and raffle items. A special thank you to Mary Ann Wojtila for all her work with the auction and raffle and to her terrific team who made those baskets look so good.
From Chris M: "I had a fabulous time last night at the dinner dance - what a triumph. This is a truly great community that we live in. While you were speaking, I thought back to when you were starting CSF - and look where you are now!! I am so impressed with what your group is doing - the research you are mounting is amazing, and the response you are garnering is overwhelming. Such progress in just a few years. You've done a wonderful job!"
From Mary B: "It was so nice to attend the CSF Dinner Dance for a Cure. To see and meet so many people who support finding a cure and spread awareness for this disorder was heart warming. The committee did a wonderful job organizing this event and making all in attendance feel welcome."
From Diana J: "So happy to be there for so many reasons. Calvin was amazing. What a genuine guy...to get up there and tell it like it is...tears and all. It is hard to live everyday the way he does. The toll it takes on him I believe was felt by each and every person in that ballroom as he stopped to shed a tear. I know everyone understood him like no words could ever say."
